Is your child finishing year 12 soon? Need to organise a trip for them post-exams? Forget about the Schoolies trip to the Gold Coast, why not book your child on a safe and fun trip overseas with Unleashed! Here you’ll find my very own daughter, Alex’s thoughts and experiences on her trip to Vanuatu with Unleashed:
My schoolies trip was spent with Unleashed program that provides graduates with a week in either Fiji or Vanuatu on a secluded island. I visited Hideaway Island in Vanuatu with a few of my friends where we all had the week of our lives!
We experienced many off island activities such as buggying and zip lining as well as visiting the blue lagoon, cascades and a local school which included a village walk. The crew were approachable and assisted us with whatever we pleased and the island provided us with endless activities to fill up our day including snorkelling, relaxing, yoga, pool parties, glass bottom boat tours and more!
The themed nights were definitely a highlight! We were able to dress up for parties such as White Night, Gradchella, Schools Out and Gender Bender where we could enjoy ourselves all through the night. The activities beforehand included survivor, karaoke and battle of the sexes!
We were able to learn of the culture through Cultural Day which included traditional dancing and live music as well as visiting the local school to play games. We further walked through the village to experience local life through enjoying our time with the kids who came and walked with us – they were all so kind and happy to see us all!
My favourite parts were most definitely snorkelling, the cascades and ziplining (over a huge canyon!) as well as spending time with the locals through Cultural Day and the village walk.
Overall, the experience was an unforgettable one, packed with activities that enabled my friends and I to become immersed in traditional culture through being able to experience Vanuatu and its features as well as enjoying our time celebrating the end of school. – Alex Collins, November 2017.
