Cruise Itinerary
Exploring the Beauty of Sicily
Our first stop in Messina, Sicily, left us in awe as we witnessed the natural wonder of Mount Etna, Europe's tallest and most active volcano. A scenic 1.5-hour coach trip led us through the charming town of Rifugio Sapienza, offering glimpses of its resilient spirit despite being twice buried by lava. Walking among the inactive Silvestri Craters, formed during the 1892 eruption, provided a surreal experience overlooking the Mediterranean's crystal-clear waters.
Discovering Valletta's Grand Harbour
Cruising into Valletta's Grand Harbour, our second stop on the cruise, was a truly spectacular experience that resonated deeply with me, given my Maltese heritage. The Grand Harbour isn't just renowned in Malta; it stands as one of the most remarkable harbours globally, boasting a blend of historical significance and breathtaking beauty. On one side, Valletta's iconic skyline greets visitors, while on the other, the charming towns of Vittoriosa, Senglea, and Cospicua add to the picturesque panorama. Guarding the head of the port are the formidable Fort St Elmo and Fort Ricasoli, adding a sense of grandeur and history to this magnificent setting.
Captivated by Barcelona's Charm
In Barcelona, our third port of call, we immersed ourselves in the city's cultural treasures. From the iconic Arc de Triomf to Antoni Gaudi's masterpiece, the Basilica De La Sagrada Família, every moment was filled with awe-inspiring architecture and spiritual significance. Strolling along La Rambla, we indulged in the vibrant street life, enjoying local craft beer and soaking in the lively atmosphere.
Mesmerised by Marseille's Splendor
Our visit to Marseille was nothing short of magnificent, as we explored the Basilica of Notre Dame de La Garde perched majestically atop a hill. The coastal road offered breathtaking views, and we savoured the local flavours at Lingchamps Palace and Vieux Port while sipping on La Cagole craft beer.
Embracing the Italian Riviera in Genoa
Genoa, the gateway to the Italian Riviera, welcomed us with enchanting excursions to Camogli and Portofino. Camogli's picturesque seafront and delectable cuisine, including Focaccia and Gelato, charmed us, while Portofino's pastel-coloured houses and upscale ambiance left us speechless.
Speakeasy Bar: A Hidden Delight on MSC World Europa
A highlight of our cruise was discovering the Speakeasy Bar, MSC World Europa's best-kept secret. Tucked away on Deck 4 behind a telephone booth, this hidden gem offered exquisite drinks, 5-star appetisers, and live jazz performances in a 1920s-inspired setting.
Luxury and Elegance Aboard MSC World Europa
Our experience in the Yacht Club Deluxe Suite was nothing short of extraordinary. From 24-hour butler service to indulgent dining experiences and access to exclusive lounges, MSC World Europa redefined luxury cruising. The onboard entertainment, including full-scale theatre productions, and the exceptional staff further enhanced our journey, making it truly unforgettable. A heartfelt thank you to MSC Cruises for this incredible experience!
