Singapore and Thailand

June 2, 2016 by Wendy Begue Leave a Comment

Over the summer, my family and I took a summer holiday to Singapore and Patong, Phuket to relax and unwind after the year. We decided to fly with Singapore airlines, which stops via Singapore on the way to Phuket – two countries in one holiday!

In Singapore, we stayed at the Novotel Clarke Quay, which is in the perfect location. It’s right near the train station and food promenade along the river. The 4-star hotel is also within walking distance to Orchard Road and Chinatown.

The Gardens at Marina Bay are beautiful, clean and interactive, some of the best sightseeing that you can do in Singapore. Eating at Satay by the Bay in the gardens is a beautiful experience and you can visit the Marina by the Bay hotel at the same time. Seeing the gardens at night is also beautiful.

Chinatown is another great place to dine and shop in Singapore. There are many places to shop with delicious food at every turn and the area is safe an easy to access.

We then flew to Phuket on Silk Air, which is partnered with Singapore Airlines. We stayed in Patong, the hub of Phuket that has beautiful beaches, yummy food and friendly people. We chose Poppa Palace which is very centrally located just one block from Bangla Road, the main strip in Patong. The hotel is within walking distance of all your needs and the value for money was fantastic as we stayed in two huge rooms among four people. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the price was very affordable.

In Patong, we took a tour of Phi Phi Island where we snorkelled in the beautiful blue waters. We took the speedboat to the islands on a day tour and were provided with excellent service with fruit and drinks given to us all day from the helpful staff.

Phuket also has a Big Buddha which is beautiful to see. The Big Buddha is not finished yet, but the surrounding area and other Buddha’s and monks are lovely.
