Auckland & Rotorua New Zealand

I attended CINZ in June 2015, flying with Air New Zealand and only 3hrs from Sydney.
Air New Zealand is a fantastic airline, I had the pleasure of having a cheeky apple martini with breakfast in the Air NZ lounge before my flight, and it was delightful!

Air NZ planes were really nice, seat back screens and they had a really cool Men in Black safety video. Loved the flight!

I was hosted by the wonderful Pullmans Hotel Auckland and was lucky enough to be invited to view a private presidential penthouse (where Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel stayed when they were in Auckland), 3 bedrooms loft style apartment, and it was amazing! Wonderful views of the city. Pullmans has some great event/conference space, a nice Jacuzzi and spa facilities.

Lots of wonderful hotels in Auckland. If you are looking for luxury, stay at Langham as soon as you walk in, you feel like a million dollars! Beautiful, luxury and elegant.

Hilton Auckland is located by the harbour, next to the Viaduct village with lots of restaurant nearby. Another beautiful hotel with spectacular views of the harbour, doesn’t feel like you’re in a city staying here.

After the trade show, I took some personal time, hired a car and drove to Matamata which is 2 hours’ drive from Auckland to stop off at Hobbiton movie set. I done a 2 hour tour of the amazing live set and enjoy a beer in one of the hobbits bar. Hobbiton is one of the best movie sets I’ve been too, it’s very green and I love the little hobbit houses!

Next stop on this trip was Rotorua. It was time to relax and have a detoxifying mud bath in a geothermal spa @ Hells Gate, it was amazing! Made my skin so smooth and soft – you feel so much lighter coming out of that place. After our treatment we headed to the luge for a couple rounds of adventure before dinner at the Skyline Stratofare restaurant and bar, oh my goodness what beautiful view with a yummy buffet dinner.

No matter what you’re into, there’s something for all everybody. From adventurist activities, relaxing spa days or even bush walking/hiking Rotorua is a surprising city with so much to do for all sorts of travellers!
